ITS ARCHITECTURAL STRUCTURE AND CONCEPT HAVE GIVEN THE MUSEUM THE DISTINCTION OF BEING THE FIRST AND ONLY UNDERGROUND CERAMIC MUSEUM IN THE WORLD.

Avanos as it is a part of Cappadocia has been one of the greatest cultural, historical and natural heritages of our country, and it has been center of tradition of pottery. The art of pottery dates back to Hittites, 4000 BC. The history accumulated in the region over centuries and this traditional handicraft passed down from father to son. In Avanos, pottery mark on the general image of the district. You can see the development of ceramic art in the historical process at Güray Underground Ceramics Museum. In addition to historical artifacts, there are also modern and traditional works of world-famous Turkish ceramic artists in the museum. The museum was built into the rock on an area of 1600 m2, 20 m below the ground. In the museum; exhibition halls, social activity areas and other service units can be visited. The museum with its rich collection both terracotta ceramic works and small items; divided into three parts: 
– Section 1: Antiquities Hall
– Section 2: The Hall of Modern Works.
– Section 3: Exhibition Hall, Cafeteria and Fireplace.
